Your health and safety are our top priority.

We carefully design every food and community experience to ensure it is safe, enjoyable, and rooted in local tradition so that you can relax and fully enjoy the flavors, stories, and warm hospitality that make Jiranileo food tours truly unforgettable.

Our goal is to share authentic, delicious experiences that are both safe and respectful of local ways of life. Although African kitchens, food preparation methods, sanitation, and restaurants may look different from what you are used to, our local hosts and communities possess deep knowledge and practical skills to maintain good hygiene and safe food practices. We collaborate closely with our hosts and guides, building on this expertise to further minimize any risk of illness.

Safe Food, Rooted in Tradition and Care

Discovering new flavors should be exciting, not stressful.

Our food tours are designed so that you can enjoy every bite with confidence and without fear of illness.
Traditional, Fresh, and Trusted: Your meals are prepared by local hosts using their family recipes and fresh ingredients bought the same day, following time-tested practices that keep food safe and delicious.
Careful Selection: When visiting local eateries during market tours, we choose only those with strong hygiene awareness and on-site management to ensure food is served safely.
Expert Training: We provide all hosts with food safety training tailored to local kitchen realities, covering handwashing, safe cooking, and food storage, balancing tradition with practical hygiene measures.
Regular Inspections: Our team inspects every host’s kitchen to support consistent hygiene standards and provide ongoing guidance.

Food Allergies & Dietary Requirements: Enjoy New Flavors Safely

We love introducing our guests to new and exciting local foods, often with unique names and traditional recipes, but your safety and comfort come first.

If you have any food allergies or specific dietary needs, please let us know when you book. We work closely with our hosts to ensure your meals are prepared safely and meet your requirements. Our hosts receive training on meal planning for guests with food allergies and common dietary preferences like vegetarian, vegan, or halal.

If a host feels unable to safely accommodate your dietary needs, we will be transparent and either find an alternative or offer a full refund so you can make the best choice for your trip.

Because clean water means carefree travel, we make water safety a non-negotiable standard.

All our hosts’ homes have piped water and proper sanitation facilities.
Strict hygiene protocols are followed during food preparation.
Guests always receive bottled water.
We also actively monitor health alerts in the communities we work with, and we pause tours when necessary to protect everyone’s well-being.

Relax. We’ve Got Your Safety Covered

Security is essential to a worry-free experience.

From the meals you enjoy to the neighborhoods you explore, we have designed every part of our tours with your safety in mind.
Trained Guides & Hosts: Our team is trained in risk awareness, emergency response, and cultural sensitivity to create a safe and welcoming environment.
Safe Environments: We carefully inspect all tour locations for potential hazards and develop emergency plans to protect guests and hosts alike. Our guides select walking routes with your safety in mind.
Age & Activity Considerations: We provide clear information about activity levels and any age restrictions upfront so you can choose the right experience for you and your family.
Respectful Interactions: We foster an atmosphere of respect and security to minimize any discomfort or harassment during your visit. Because we take guests to neighborhoods that typically do not see many tourists, local people may be curious and want to greet or chat. At times, people may try attention-getting tactics like catcalling. Our guides are specially trained to navigate these situations smoothly so you can enjoy your experience comfortably and safely.
